AUTOZONE sells a spark plug wrench that is one piece and had the socket/extension and magnet all in one. Remove the coil pack bolt (10mm) I believe and work one at a time.
Remove the strut tower cross brace and set aside. That is probably the biggest tip that helped me out.
1. Remove strut cower cross brace
2. Remove coil pack bolt. (One at a time)
3. Insert socket first then insert ratchet and loosen as necessary. (Again one at a time)
4. Install new plug in opposite order. ............Don't forget the Anti Sieze for the spark plug threads.
5. There is one vent tube that you will need to loosen and set aside but you will see that when you lift the engine cover off. This will help with spark plug removal, especially rears.
Also recommended is use of some compressed air for the spark plug chamber preferably BEFORE removing the plug. If no compressor available the can of compressed air that you use for computer keyboards.
Replace plugs coil packs and bolts as necessary.
Re install strut tower cross brace and tighten bolts as necessary.
Front plugs are fairly straight forward same procedure as rear only nothing else to remove.
If you need a photo of the one piece socket/extension PM me email address. They have different sizes but I am about 99% sure ours are 5/8"
As for the tune Yes should be able to be completed I. A few hours. Biggest part is to be patient and read the instructions closely. It took me two weekends but I did the plugs thermostat CAI Kit one weekend and the tune and 3 bar MAP sensor the other.
Every step up to the 3 bar MAP sensor can be done prior to tune.
DO NOT install 3 bar MAP sensor until tuning files are loaded.
Allow a minimum of two to three full tanks of the octane rating fuel the tuning file requires PRIOR to installing tuning files. Example of you are getting 93 Octane (best results) but order tuning files for the predominant fuel in your region. If 93 available then run minimum of two to three full tanks of 93 octane through fuel system. This procedure will allow the ECU to adapt to new octane and not be as quite of a shock to the system when tune is loaded.
Recap: A/Z one piece spark plug socket.
Since your already there also get a small packet of anti Sieze, radiator hose grease and in my case some thermostat housing sealant. Optional but I recommend. The packets should be available at the counter. Optional but also recommend is a small pack of die electric grease for the spark plug/coil electrode tip.
Some DexCool anti freeze....(Orange). Make sueee you get the Ford Approved type. Expect to lose somewhere around a quart.
Note I didn't say thermostat and spark plugs if you get the LMS Kit they are included.
Remove strut tower cross brace
Remove rear plugs one at a time.
Re install strut tower cross brace and bolts.
Front plugs same steps as rear one at a time.
Thermostat
CAI Kit
Tuning files from laptop to tuner
Tuning files from tuner to vehicle.
Three bar MAP sensor
Enjoy. Shifting will probably be a bit harsh for about a week especially with WOT acceleration but should smooth out after that when transmission learns the new driving habits and tune file parameters.
REMEMBER: With tuning files installed on vehicle that is your new MINIMUM Octane rating for future fuel purchases. You can go UP but not DOWN. Example 91 tune.....you can put in 91 or 93 but not below 91.
The tune works I picked almost 60 HP......(AT WHEELS) and 72 lb. ft of torque.
