I believe I needed around 6 with my M1-301 filter. To be safe, I filled it carefully after 5 qts, and kept checking the dipstick.

My '95 3.2L takes 5 quarts exactly with the Motorcraft FL-400S filter.
I may go with the bigger filter, the FL-1A, on the next oil change for more oil capacity. I believe with that filter the 3.2L takes 6 quarts.
Correct me if I am wrong....thanks.

hmmm...a 302 takes 6 qts. The SHO's must have a big oil pan.
My 302 only takes 5qts....???
Yep, unless it has a larger oil pan. boink

My '95 f-150 4x4 has a 302 and the standard setup only allows for 5 qts. Luckily, the PO went for the "tow package" which bumped the capacity up to 7 qts wink

my 2L aircooled VW engine only toom 2 qts :D

I use the FL-1A filter and it takes 5 1/2 quarts to fill. Kind-of a squeeze to get that filter in there but I think it's well worth it.

Also..my '88 Mustang only held 5 quarts (and the FL-1A is the standard filter for this engine).

5 quarts would be a safe bet - or at least a good starting point for your '95.

There is only one right answer: the amount that it takes to get the oil level up to the FULL mark on the dipstick. Period.
