Just curious for those of you that have pulled your tranny's before. How long did it take you to pull it out? First time I did it completely solo it took me about 5hrs. I'm in the middle of pulling it again and this time it looks like it's going to be out in 3hrs. These times are both with just hand tools and no second helper. Just curious if anyone has the actual book time for the job too...maybe the closest thing would be a clutch job for the book time. Thanks

Edit: Sorry, looking for times on a MTX tranny. :D

Hey masho95, do you have the new ShoNut clutch? If so, how do you like it? Sorry to go off topic.

Eric it took me a lot longer to do it than that. It may have been because i was working with a car that was sitting for years. BTW do you remove the struts from the hub assembly or do you seperate the ball joints. Also, do you drop all 4 subframe bolts or just 2,3? What's the reverse gear situation looking like? email or P.M me about it.

Yes I have the new SHONUt 9 puck fibertuff clutch and HD Pressure plate setup. From the little amount that I've actually been able to drive it, due to differential and tranny gear problems, I like it alot. Haven't been able to get on it because of the break in period and above problems but I'm going to take it for an extended drive tomorrow and test everything out.

I did the tranny removal exactly per the instruction in the SHONut video. Support the engine from above using a homemade engine stand. No need to remove the struts from the hub assembly or seperate the ball joint. Just pulled the axles from the tranny and rotate the axles and knuckle as one assembly and then tied up the axles out of the way. And I removed all 4 subframe bolts and removed the whole subframe out of the way. All in all it took me a little under 12 hours with all my breaks and lunch and dinner. That was for pulling the tranny rebuilding the mainshaft to repair my 1-2 synchro problem and then reassembly of the car. And Chris as for the reverse gear did you find out what part he needed? Actually I didn't use either the reverse idler gear or the reverse sliding gear. I'll be taking my car out for an extended ride tomorrow to verify everything is ok with it, and if everything checks out I should be able to swing by your house on Sunday with all the parts if that's ok.
