I am just about ready to order the parts for my 60/120k tune up and I am hoping someone will point out anything I may be missing.
My 93 MTX has 157k on it and as far as I know, has never had a valve adjustment. It still runs great but I figure it is better to do it now than wait for it to leave me on the side of the road somewhere.

When I got the car with 111k miles I was forced to replace the timing belt, water pump, CV joints, Throttle Position Sensor, O2 Sensors, spark plugs and spark plug wires. One of the CV boots was cut and to make a long story short, 40 miles after I picked it up from the dealer there where flames coming out of the engine compartment. Okay now that that is off my chest...

I am going to be ordering the tools and shims for the valve adjustment, new spark plugs and wires (motorcraft of course), all of the upper engine gaskets, timing belt and a new thermostat. I will be getting a set of SHOshop's UDP's as well to take care of the accessory belts. If anyone can suggest anything else I may want to do I would appreciate it

The only thing I am not sure about is the life expectancy of a water pump. Mine is about 2 years old with 46k on it. Should I go ahead and replace that too or should it still have a lot of life left in it?
Thanks in advance for all your help.

P.S. I would like to send out my thanks to the moderators and the members of this forum for making it one of the most informative forum on the web (for a SHO owner anyway) and keeping it the most clean and well organized Forum I have ever seen. Thanks for your efforts and keep up the good work!

i say leave it. 46,000 miles isn't a lot on a water pump. i say leave it go. it should be fine for a while. they generally last over 100,000 miles i believe......

From what I have read, you should just do both CV boots just to play it safe and know both arent torn or damaged at all. Also have you ordered the camshaft postioning sensor, and crank position sensor, these babies like to go out in worst of times plus you'll be right there when doing the work. And one more thing, I have learned the hardway that the idler/pulley tensioner is a dealer only part so order one of those if you know yours is still OEM, b/c the bearing will go sooner or later like they did on my 120k SHO.

Definately do not forget the crank and cam sensors. The water pump is a judgement call. Personally I would replace it. It will be easy enough to do with the rest of the work your doing. It would really suck if it went out a short time later and you had to break it down again.

half-way there, I think.
I got 63k out of my water pump - they generally give up when every they want - but usually not before 60k - that's why it is recommended to replace it.

I would add a front main oil seal and a set of front camshaft seals. At that mileage, they're likely to start leaking real soon, if they haven't already.

If you do the water pump, make sure you have the O-ring set. They may be included in the gaskey set you mentioned.
