I have a replacement door on my 89 due to the previous owner's inability to back the car up without hitting things. I have the original door sitting in my garage. How hard is it to swap over the door lock from the original to the "new" door? I've already transferred the mouldings over, but would really like to be able to lock my car without having to climb over from the passenger seat to unlock it.

It's actually pretty straightforward. Near the doorlock on the jamb you'll see a rectangle of metal. This is part of the clip that holds the door lock in place.

You'll need to snake your fingers up into the cavity inside the door and disconnect the linkage, then pull this clip out. The lock comes out separate from the handle.
