How hard is it to change Rack n' Pinnon?

Okay i Take my car in to get the wheel's ballance and when i go back to get it the Power Steering is all jacked up, drive's like a TANK know and i need to fix it ASAP. Will it take me longer than a day to fix?

Yes, i know, i checked some prices and they want like $800!!! OUCH! so i was thinking i'd just do it my self, i found a used one at a salvage yard for 75 bucks, so if i can do it in a day then that would save me some serious cash! Can it be done?

I tried the same with a 93 SLO, it was a pain in the A$$...

eventually after getting it stuck halfway out (literally) i had it towed and pulled by a local place. total cost was about 150 bucks, INC tow. I got a used steering rack free.

I Dunno how MUCh different the SHO is, I think the racks are the same, just different surroundings?

800 bucks sounds a lil high though

I had Pep Boys do mine (brand new) for $550. It took them 3 days though. Lol they ordered the wrong one and had to send it back.

pep boys did Eric's old 91, and umm, well, during their 3rd attempt to get it right, err, it burned to the ground. And after alittle pressure from Eric, they gave him more than enough money to get SHOTIME. That's after he blew the diff pin on a sho in 2 weeks between the 91 and SHOTIME.

Yea i need a new rack and pin. and i am getting my tie rods done too and a bunch other stuff. like strut bushings, cont rod bushing, and my back bushings. My whole front end sucks.

And my bro is doing it to at ford! since he works there.

But yes... they did it a few times wrong. and then it burnt down. but they made up for it well.
