How do I Manually Adjust the Clutch?

I think my auto adjuster might be broken.

How do I go about manually adjusting it.

Pulling up the pedal doesnt work.

How do I do it manually?

Put your head down by the pedal, push up on the bottom of your pedal with your hand, then push on the blue piece with the teeth on it and let go of the pedal. It might sound kind of strange but you will understand once you get under there. Just remember not to kick the bottom of the pedal after you have adjusted it, or you will have to do it again.

Would something like this cause a clutch to work really well after working like crapola for the little bit I drove in the last week or two? All of a sudden my clutch is driving almost like normal again??? shrug Could the cable be sticking? I would be amazed and happy if I don't need to mess with the '95. It needs its cam seals fixed already as it is. headbang

Pulling up on the pedal and pushing on the blue cable anchor will loosen the tension in the clutch cable. This is not what you are trying to accomplish. Pulling up on the pedal after doing that should allow the tensioning spring to take up the extra slack that was created. Without proper tension in the clutch cable, the throwout bearing will not be in proper contact with the pressure plate fingers. This will result in slippage at the interface between the two components and rapid wear. Not good.

Yikes =O

So this could cause slippage... and if my clutch seems to work better than it did before... I guess my question now is how do I fully determine the cause and fix it? Would lubing the clutch cable help solve the problem if it isn't fully engaging?

Only if the clutch cable is overtightened can it cause slipping of the clutch. This is very hard to do. The process described earlier will only cause the clutch to not fully disengage if done to an extreme. The cable requires very little if any maintenance. Lubricating it wouldn't hurt, but chances are that the interface between the throwout bearing and the pressure plate is changing as a result of wear or sticking.
