My heater core went out and I have the dash out. But I don't know how to get the air conditioning lines off that connect to the evaporator case. Do I need any special tool? Autozone says to just pull on them or cut them. Help I need to get it back together before school starts again.

You need the Ford a/c removal tools.I`m doing a line tomorrow, and it`s not easy, even with the correct tools. The lines like to "set up" even when they`re clean. You can buy a cheap set of them at the local auto parts store.

on previous experience of heater core replacement, my dad and i discovered if you completely removed the dash ("lay it in the seat" kind of removal) you have *barely* enough room to get the heater core out without having to screw with your A/C system..

I've already tryed to pull it out with out messing with the a\c. but it wouldn't even move. so I guess that I should probably go and price the tool. Or see if any body has one they'll let me use. But thanx for the advise. And I still need to find out why my cooling fan wont come on. And I know its not the relay box. Cause I just check that. and every thing works in it. :( :( frown

Is your AC even working? It sounds like it's not. If the parts are junk anyway, you can file through the outer edge of the ring so you can get to the spring inside, then cut and pull the spring out (at least that worked for me). That's on the large line out of the evaporator. Be careful you don't cut into the evaporator ****** though if you intend to use it again. Don't know about the small liquid line to the evap, I couldn't get to it in the time I had.
