well while rotating by 3.2 on the engine stand to do rod bearings, i had a little mishap. one of the threaded ears to where the bellhousing goes to the block decidled it wanted to pop off....and i cant find it. i know if i can find it i can get it welded back in, but what if i cant find it? have him weld a chunk of cast onto there and re drill and tap it? put a strap over it and drill/tap some holes into the block so it will hold a bolt and nut? or not even worry about it?

heres what popped off

at least i got the rod bearings and rear main seal/carrier gasket done......

Popped off?... how the **** did you crack that? haha Anyway yeah just have him weld something up, in all honestly you probably would do ok without that bolt, so long as you don't have a crazy high hp car. But definitly get it fixed, I'm not saying roll w/o it. But any decent shop would be able to look at it and tell you what you can do about it.

The motor shifted while rotating it and the bolt head hit the back plate on the stand. And pop goes the ear... Now I know why they say to always make sure all bolts are tight before turnin the motor Upside down...

well i cant find the ear...tore the garage apart lookin for it today. they guy doin the welding said he could drill it out a bit, and weld in a tube(i think he said steel tube) insert so i can get a bolt/nut through it to hold it. how does that sound?

thanks for the input

Have you thought of welding a stud in this location, and having a nut on the tranny side of things?

yes, that would be a pain in the ass if not impossible to get that stud through the trans hole while trying to mate it to the engine. Now you could do it out of the car, yes, but if you ever wanted to just pull the engine or trans, forget it it won't happen. Get it welded up so you can just use a factory bolt.
