Based on your other post, it sounds like you're trying to do an entire interior swap. Are you trying to get more pristine examples of the original upholstery, or are you trying to update the whole thing with newer (read: Gen 2) stuff? For the former, honestly I would find another 89 with a black interior and buy it as a parts car - that way you can swap at your leisure and at your pace. The dash is a bitch to swap.

And, honestly, if you're trying to do the latter, just do the same thing - find a parts car with a nice interior. SHOs nowadays have either nice interiors and crap mechanics or the other way around, so there are lots of deals to be had.

As hawkeye said, find a parts car. If you can't find a parts car, post up an ad in the WTB section.

Start beatin' the junkyards.

You would have to post this, two weeks after a 91 with black interior was crushed . . . .

The IP on an '89 is different than the '90-91, but should fit, you will just need it complete with all parts. Dave

I bought my black dash from Mike and Kurt from Northwest. It was kind of expensive for shipping (greyhound), but it was exactly what I was looking for and it was in perfect shape.

No black Interiors in '89 (except for the steering wheel and cluster trim) Only gray was avail. for the dash, seats, carpet, etc. Unless it was redone to make it black.

Any good trim shop should be able to re-pad and re-cover a dash in vinyl, and in whatever color. That is if you are willing to pay...

I did mine, and it took about a day...

I'm dreading the day I need to replace mine too. Finding a grey Gen 2 dash isn't as hard, but still will be a nice PITA when I get around to it. Good to know buying a parts car is the most realistic option for that.

Abs plastic and aluminum brackets... Make sure you cover that ABS in some high quality leather before you set the gauges... otherwise it will totally throw off that luxury vibe you got goin' on ;)...

I have a big enough band saw if you really want to cut a dash in-half though ;)
