Hot Brakes

OK over the weekend, I redid both sides of brakes..... ROTORS, PADS, Calipers and still my drivers side like to burn up. It is a 93 ATX and this is the second time it has happened were driving for only a little bit I stopped and smoke is seen coming from the pads. WTF Anybody have any Ideas.

Are your brakes dragging? Is it the front or the rears? If rears, maybe your e-brake is stuck on.

If you got new rotors, I believe you are also supposed to clean them with carb cleaner or something to remove a coating on the rotor that keeps it from rusting during shipping/selling at the store. If you dont clean them first, I believe they smoke a bit burning that stuff off.

doh sorry rear brakes and I cleaned the surface with brake cleaner. Also this has happened before the new rotors. I doin't use the parking brake

During the bedding process, it is common to have the pads smoke, but it should be both sides and normally is the front rotors.

If your front drivers is sticking, start with the caliper, then the brake line. If that does not fix it, see if the caliper diagonally across is sticking. That could indicate a master cylinder.

On my '92, I am currently fighting a sticking front, left caliper. I've replaced the calipers three times (stock, '96, SHO Stopper Jr.) and the brake lines. I now have a new master cylinder ready for install.

You may want to replace the flexable hoses going to each caliper in the rear. Over time, the metal ends corrode and restrict the hose opening and keep the brake fluid from leaving the calipers. I think theya re about $30-35 for the pair, and are a good place to start for your problems.

Check to see if your slider pin is frozen on the caliper bracket. The caliper itself could be bad too.

Ok I will try to replace the hose in rear.......This is a new Caliper, Rotor and Pads on Drivers side rear. The pins I lubed them up and good to go. This will be my 3rd time with brake pads smoking

You pulled off the rubber boot to **** the pins?

anybody know a good way to disconnect the hoses for the rear

Unscrew the 8mm screw holding the line to the strut, unscrew the banjo bolt from the caliper, and use two wrenches to loosen it from the hard line. You'll also need to pop the clip out too.
