The horns? You may lose a little low end by removing them, but I dont see why you cannot leave them out.

yea that sounds like a good name. lol just wondering i dont wanna loose the low end if thats what might happen.. ill leave them.

They are used to help the intake air flow into the runners more efficiently, and to improve the resonant frequency characteristics of the intake. Leave them in.

Ok, sounds like you some of you have never taken your intake off before. The secondaries are in the lower intake, the "horns" are in the upper intake between the runners and the surge tank. If they weren't getting any airflow, then your car wouldn't be running. As far a taking them out, what are you gaining by removing them. They are there to make the intake runner equal length. With them there, each cylinder will get the same amount of air with the same air harmonics...for lack of a better term. There are pulses that run through the intake same as the the exhaust. If you change the length of the runners you will change the harmonics of these waves. Unless you have a really good reason to take them out then I would leave them in. You may never notice a difference in performance without them, but I also don't know if the intake will properly bolt on without them. There are alignment pins on the surge tank and you may have to grind them down some so the intake runners will fully bolt down. All in all, I would say just leave them there, it is really the best idea.

I took mine out once and the car ran like a SLO Vulcan. Came right back and put them in again.

i hate this cop setup. someone on here should make some other kind of system:nut:

Once you replace the original COPs there will seldom be a problem. The OEM ones from the factory were crap.

You can ohm them but that really only confirms they are dead if the reading is open. I have plenty of used ones....

Look at your very carefully. If they show tiny cracks in the case particularly under the electrical primary plug area then they are probably bad or soon will be.

see the thing is i dug thru all my used ones and found the nices looking ones and installed them at one point. all seemed well now i have a code of p0304 coil 4 i assume.. well i know its somthing with that!

so im gonna switch a known front good one and hope it last again

this is the kind of tester i was thinking. put it on the car and run it and watch for spark.. if it sparks good then move on. start with the fronts.. if they check good switch them to the rears and do the same with the rears in the front spots. what do you think?:nut:

like i said i got like 20-25 if not more used coils i always pick them up when i find a sho in the pick and up yard. that still has them.. i know i thrown quite a few away since i new the were dead. just like this one! unless i find it unplugged
