Hooking up Lights on spoiler

I have put the oem spoiler on my 92 and I am still trying to figure out how to wire it up. I'm sure I need to wire a resistor into the circuit, because I tried to wire into the existing brake light and it blew a fuse so I was just wondering if someone could help me with this. Thanks

Has anyone wired up the led's on the spoiler?
