What I mean is that I plan on stripping the interior, and I wanted to cut away some of the excess metal that is in the car. My question is, Is any of the interior parts like (the metal strip where the backs seats were between the trunk and the inside, the inside of the doors hollowed out, or the spare tire well(going to put a piece of sheet metal in its place))structural to the car? I am not too worried about looks. Is there anything else I can cut out with a saw zaw, in the interior? thanks for the help guys. I am shooting on droping about 500 lbs, I already dropped about 300.(front seat, back seats, sound deadener, spare, all carpet, insulation, amp, keyless entry module, fender well covers, air horn and box, winshield washer resivoir, fog lights, subs, and egr system)Still to come is stock speakers, excess metal that is not structural, lighter rims, no cruise control, no emmisions stuff, no raido, no dash, no ac, no heater, fiberglass hood, no air bags, different steering wheel, lexan all the way around, no power steering system, and one racing seat. Any other ideas would be helpful. Hoping to get into the low 14's maybe even high 13's w/ a stock motor and then starting to build the motor. you guys are my heros hail

Send a private message to drivinhard. He's the expert around here when it comes to stripping. :D

As a side note, I still would someday like to find a Gen 1 with a good drivetrain and not so good body that I could strip down to 'nothing' and make a racer out of.

I saw no mention of helium in your tires. Considering the air is compressed, it's gotta be worth a pound or two. And be sure to polish the "insides" of your wheels and tires, don't need and unnecessary friction between the revolving wheel assembly and the dormant air contained therein.

DO NOT cut the rear tray unless you plan to install a bar in it's place. I see no problem with the spare tire well except your car would sustain more damage if rear-ended.
