When driving around town my temp gauge needle shoots right up to the "N" on "Normal". It does not go higher than that. It has always stayed at the "M" area. When I get on the highway the temperature drops drastically, and as soon as I jump off the highway it shoots back up again. It has never been that high before. All my fluids are perfect too. Is this normal for the SHO?

Could also be a bad ECT or gauge sender.
I would check what Chris stated first. thumb

ETC its down below the thermostat, the firewall side. Its a two wire plug hard to see but it you reach down the outlet you will feel it.
Gauge sender is right beside the thermostat, the side closest to the front of the car.
The Knock sensor is under the fuel rails.

Before spending all that money on a fan you may want to check and see if the fan is coming on. Sounds to me like your thermostat is sticking intermittantly.

Kevin,

Your signature line describes a wicked truck. I'm usually a Ford guy, but what you've done to that Chevy is SWEET. You should get a sig pic going with that bad boy.

I's nice to see GM finally get into the heavy duty diesel truck market and with an Allison tranny to boot! Now maybe Ford won't be so high priced with their Power Strokes.

Yea, one of these days between work, wife, kids, dogs, snakes, woodworking projects, house projects, cars, RC cars, and a host of 25 bazillion other things I need to get a digital camera and figure it out. Later!
