Question - Why did the SHO for Canada not get HID? Are our Daytime running lights the reason why?

Since DRL's are not available on the HID equipped Taurus's I would assume that you are correct, Are DRL's required by law in Canada?

Yes, DRL are mandated by law. But, I'm sure they could get by running the LED fogs instead as I'm sure there are US states that also have DRL.

Yes, the "LED fogs" are referred to by Ford as driving lights and serve the function of DRLs. I don't know why Canadian SHO's don't get HID though. Probably another law about light output or a certain range that the HID's don't pass and Ford figured it would be too expensive to custom engineer specific Canadian HID headlamps for such a low production vehicle.
