Ok, on a motor mount witht the rubber seperating couldnt you just load it up with silicone or another form of strong adhesive to fix it. Wouldnt that make it stronger, looking at some of peoples aftermarket hi performance motor mounts it looks like that is all they did and cranked up the price.

Silicone isnt going to cut it. Poly-Urethane would work. Getting new reinforced mounts would be the best way.

dont mean to hijack the thread, but on a related note..

will fixing/replacing one mount be enough to cure a bouncing engine?

my engine was getting the telltale rub mark on the intake, and i replaced the front mount pretty easily with shonut's reinforced unit.. it improved the situation but the engine still isnt snug and launches are very tricky.

could it be my subframe busings or something?

i'd think just replacing the front would keept the sucker down for the most part.

Check my sig for motor mount info. As well as a "how-to" on building urethane mounts.

It shows a few ways to reinforce mounts. Since then, Ive found a few more. Some of which, reinforce the mount greatly without increasing vibes.

You can also get torque limiters to prevent engine movement.

And expect those tiny brackets and bolts to hold the motor down?

I dont think so! Youre asking for trouble.

Yes with good motor mounts. I would not expect them to limit movement on an engine with bad mounts. I have seen a cracked subframe on a supercharged SHO with HD motor mounts, AL subframe bushings and torque limiters. The motor mounts and tq limiters held and the subframe cracked.
