New guy here. Officially saying hello. Don't have a Taurus but do have a SHO engine and trans. Trying to make it work somewhere else and need to get a few things :) Once I get to a point where I'm sure it's going to work I'll post some more details.

Hello and welcome to our forums here. I'm sure you will find a wealth of information on the SHO. Have fun. Oh, and what vehicle do you have in mind to do the swap with.

If you're putting two turbos on it and putting it in a Ranger with an automatic, I'm going to hunt you down and excorcise your soul...

Are you ready to come to Texas????

To Brinkley,
If you need any help with wiring, or the like drop me a line. A buddy and myself have a SHO powertrain in a GT-40 kit car. Actually, it just got put back together for the ump-teenth time.. :nut: There's some video on streetfire.net if you wanna check it out as well.

Welcome to the forum!!! :salute:

Hey guys thanks for the responses it's good to be here. SASHO, I am also working on an MR setup.

Is your setup a transverse mount? And if so how did you solve the shifter issue? I am considering simply extending my cables one around under the trunk and back and the other up and down to shift.
And as far as electrical help:
YES!
I could certainly use a few items like coil packs, manual engine harness, and other items. If you've got anything like that shoot me a PM or I can send you one. :)
A set of uncut shift cables would be great as my trans came from a junkyard.
I'm being tight lipped about my project because I know they can get out of control, I don't want to set myself up for epic fail.

Welcome!

Everytime I see a new non-Taurus project, I want to go find another SHO engine to throw in my grandpa's '84 BMW 2002.

Yes, our setup is transverse. I can't recall off the top of my head how the shifter setup is configured, however, I do know we swapped out the stock cables for some 2nd Gen Eclipse cables. They are much higher quality and the shifts are much smoother and much more direct. There are two cables in the 2nd Gen Eclipse, we grabbed both, but we only used one as that one fit the bill alittle better.

I'll get back to you on the wirirng, and what not. Actually, give me a call sometime...

Thanks for the tip. My car is transverse to begin with but the shifter is located on top of the trans not the back. The cables will not reach. I need to extend / loop back or something to make them work. Ill shoot you a PM with what I'm needing parts wise. thanks!

If I wasn't all that clear about the cables... My point being, the stockers do not work very well in this configuration, just trust me on this. The 2nd GEN Eclipse cables are MUCH beefier, and IIRC, alittle longer as well.

Question for you guys: People that have done SHO swaps into NON taurus cars, what have you done about mounting the engine? The MR2 has 3 transmission mounts and 1 engine mount. The SHO uses that large underbrace setup right? Seriously thinking about doing the more common 5VZFE swap into my MR2. Has anyone mounted the engine on 4 mounts?
SASHO thanks for the info on the cables ! that helps.
