Hesitation

my car was cutting out almost like it was missing. get on the gas and it fell on its face. got a code for tps voltage too low and some othe ignition codes. tested the tps and found it to be bad. it cured the problem

if its hesitating and you smell gas make sure that the seal on the injectors are good and not leaking i had a cherokee do this to me ounce i would some times smell gas and it didn't run right tryed every thing else untill it got bad enough that i saw the fuel pour out of one one day i fixed that in a hurray.

how hard is it to take off the fuel injectors?

i dont think its too hard from what ive seen. just getting the intake off to get to the injector rails. intake can come off in 20minutes so thats not bad. i never took the rails off though so i dont know how bad that is, but i would imagine its not terribly difficult. i recommend you pick up a haynes or a chiltons though.

Ok, I think O2 might be the problem because the check engine light does go on and off, and one of my friends had his check engine light going on and off and it was the O2 sensors. I also did change out the coolant temp sensor, no change in how the car ran.

Dude, you need to pull the codes and post them here. If the Check Engine Light comes on, then something is tripping it, more than likely it is the cause of your problem. Ripping things apart and throwing money at it is not the answer. You need to start from the top, retrieving codes from the PCM would be considered the top - fix that problem first - it may very well solve your hesitation. If it doesn't, then you move on to testing sensors and looking for leaks.

Where is the TPS located? I am having similar problems.

I also ask more questions under "REGARDING HESITATION", since I am experiencing something similar...

the TPS is on the side of your thottle body facing the radiator. it has two torx head screws holding it onto the throttle body. its not too big, maybe an inch and a half squared.

I would like to check the codes a lot, one problem is I have no way to do that, I do not know anybody with a computer to hook up to your car.

you only need a paperclip and a pencil man. go here to see how to check them, to find out what the numbers mean go here and here. also autozone or pepboys or any of those places do it for free.

I think its two things- either tps or coil.. when my coil went bad- it felt like you put 20 quartz of oil in the engine- all it would do is bog and had no power.. also than when i got another Sho it bogged again and it was the plugs and wires- i dont think its fuel related at all- just a sensor or something electrical causing the computer to read wrong.. goodluck

oh yea i have hesitation again right now and i got a code for low tps voltage(like shotimev6) so tomrrow im doing a whole fornt end work like timing belt front main seal so forth.. with all that im doing a new tps- so we shall see if it works..
