Hello, I am new to the SHO world, I just picked up a 94 ATX and so far I am extremely happy with it!

First issue, it seems to be fine other than it is sluggish and hesitates when it is cold, but after it warms up, it gets up and moves.

Second issue, the temp gauge reads just above the C when it is fully warmed up. Unless the car is sitting while running and the temp will then climb to approx. halfway on the gauge and the fans kick on and bring the temp down to where I would expect it to be at all the time.

Any ideas on these issues would be very helpful!

Thanks!

I've had the same thing happen to my old 90 MTX. My 93 ATX runs at half way up the temp guage every single time and the fan doesn't let it go above half way. With my old SHO, it ran just above the C everytime and when coming to a hault for a while it would climb right up to half way with the fan kicking in constantly. Just an idea for you. I don't think anything is wrong with that.

Stateing how many miles you have and what sensors have been replaced so far of your knowledge may help other members get an idea of what might be wrong with the cold running condition.

i think its pretty normal, shos simply dont like to run when cold. if it runs fine once warmed up then its fine. and dont worry about that gauge, mine does the same and those gauges are very inaccurate anyway. not to mention that driving any car hard before it is up to operating temperature is a very bad idea anyway. oil is at correct viscosity yet and you could do some serious damage if you always drive the shit out of it when its cold. just take it easy till it warms up, then go play.

the car has 146xxx miles on it, not sure of the sensors that have been replaced as I just bought it Sat. The previous owner had it for 2 1/2 years and had a lot of work done recently, but I don't remember exactly what he said that he had done, I know the timing belt has been replaced from what he told me as well as the rear wheel bearings. I usually don't drive cars hard before they warm up, but with just getting back into a car that has power again it has been hard to resist the urge...haha. Thanks for the info!
