To be honest there's not one bolt on or kit you can put on a sho to gain 1 second in the quarter mile besides boost or nitrous. The best thing for the drag strip would probably be to remove as much weight from the car as you can to get your 60 foot time faster. A chip or a tuner will only do much good if you already have lots of bolt ons to tune for like exhaust or a ported intake with BBBs . The stock tune is already pretty efficient for a stock sho. There are engine modifications you can do but mostly add power when they are all used together. What mods if any have been done to the car already?

Quick couple questions. What made your decision to use a 94 sho to drag race? What I mean is that you stated that you are new to the sho and even for a person experienced with these cars they can be a handful to even keep on the road these days not even seeing any track time. What mods as stated and what does the maintenance history look like?

I grew up with supped up v8s.my first car was an 87 lincon LSC. **. and a 87 thunderbird turbo coup.i also have a 440 magnam so I don't find it hard to handle when it comes to power I find it slower then im used to.i got the car for $1200 and it hasent been in any wrecks and most parts are oreganel.im replaceing as I go.if it brakes auto zone is just down the road.

BB's are big bore butterflies. Some people have the butterflies opened up for a little extra kick. On top of the wonderful sound the secondaries make around 4k rpm

My car is still pretty stock so I cant say from first hand knowledge but like One_shot said, a full second off the 1/4 is alot for a sho. You could boost it, but the supporting mods needed to actually put the power down wouldnt be cheap.

What was your 1/4 time? And was the duramax stock? I couldnt see my sho beating my duramax in a straight line until 85+ mph. Although my main goal is to make my sho faster than my duramax

Agreed. The y pipe will give you best bang for your buck but it's not going to gain you 1 second. Shosource is a great website and we all use them for performance mods and maintenance parts. They have a lot of stuff. The best thing would just be to browse their website and buy mods when you can.

1 second is a lot on a drag strip. You probably have to gut the thing and maybe spray it. What times are you running now? Once you get to a certain point with weight reduction and driver skill you'll have to use forced induction to get appreciable gains. This is a cammy motor and shines up top- not bottom end for drags

the best way to go fast with a SHO is to sell the SHO and buy a fast car.
probably the cheapest way to do it too.
