Hey all,

I have the engine ready to go in, but I am having a problem mating the tranny with the block. I am not sure how to get it to go in. What is the best way to mate the tranny with the engine?

I have the cherry picker hooked to the engine puller thingy on the front and to the rear right (looking at it from the front) and I have a jack underneath the tranny to prop it up, also I have a jackstand under the engine to help with stability. I am still having problems lining it up and pushing it in. HELP!!

Chris,

Do you have a clutch line-up tool? You have to center the splined hole in the clutch disc in the center (duh!) of the pressure plate/ flywheel. You can make one out of a wooden dowel the same size as the crankshaft pilot bearing hole.

Insert the dowel in the pilot bearing hole and then build up the part of the dowel that the clutch disk rests on with tape so that the clutch disk fits snug on the the dowel. This will put the clutch disk in the center of the flywheel where it should be.

Make sure you put the disk on forwards, not backwards, and then put on your pressure plate assembly and tighten and torque in sequence. After the pressure plate is torqued, you can pull out the dowell because the pressure plate surface is now holding the disk.

Voila'!! Splines on clutch disk are right where you need them when mating engine to tranny.

Don't know if the MTX has a bearing or a bushing since I don't own an MTX cry but it should have one or the other. It is what the main shaft of the transaxel rides in when you have the clutch pushed in.

Actually, the MTX sho doesnt have a pilot of any kind, it relies on the Transmission input shaft bearings to keep it centered.
