I understand alot of you are doing your 60k valve service yourselves. Where can I find instructions on how to do it. I have searched the internet and found no good, complete procedures. I don't have a service book, and my intake manifold is off already so I need to know what to do next. Can someone give me instructions, or tell me what they used to do 60k valve lash?
Thanks,
Jackson

how far are you from richardson. you could get sdpatt to show you how to do the best damn 60k you'll ever see. I hear he charges gas money and a 12 pack wink .

But if that's to steep for ya, do a search on 60k maintenance and you'll find all ya ever wanted to know. BTW, do you have the shim kit? You can rent it from shonut (I think).

Doing a 60K is a big job as far as I am concerned. I did my 60K on my 1995 SHO a week ago. I had 103,000 miles on it. At any rate, I planned my 60K long before I actually did the job. First, I got hold of a Ford SHO shop manual and a Chilton manual for supplement. I read and read and read. Next, I slowly ordered the parts that I need as well as cleaning materials in a span of two months. Then I carefully tackled the job which took me two weekends and four weekdays for a total of 60 hours or so...

I am not trying to scare you, but it is best to really get hold of a repair manual and be familiar with your car. (Internet resources is a great place to get additional information) I would concentrate on your valve adjustment, CPS, belts and front main seal first. I will post my whole entire experience on this forum this weekend.

Get all your tools and parts together (shims, plugs, wires, etc.) before starting the job. I was a rookie on all this with no formal automotive mechanics training...but I did it myself.

On the other hand, if you just want valve adjustment/shim replacement procedure instructions...a straight forward source would be a VHS tape sold by Cincy SHO for $25.00.

Good Luck.

Josh at Sho Nut Performance has a good video done by our own Mark N. for around $20. sdpatt has some very good info. I'm sure he'd e-mail if you asked.
