I changed plug 4,5, & 6 easily. Went to #1 and OMG, WTF, you have got to kidding me, the plug came out, but the threads are still in the BLOCK.

What do I do now? I think I need to have a drink or 10.

I was going to take it in, now I really have no choice but to.

I can't even get ins. on my other car to drive it. (weekend)

Thanks, Keith

(and if so then holy gd wtf) if you stripped the head then you can get a thread repair kit... ill see if i can find a link to one.. i forget what exactly they are called.... HELICOIL! yeah thats it i think... ill get back to ya on that one.

You need to find an easy out that will be long enough for you to put in there and twist it out.

Sounds like you broke the head off of the plug and the rest of it is still down there?
Maybe I'm missing something. I don't understand how the plug can come out but the threads are still there unless the insulator broke off. If the insulator broke off the body shell, you shuold stilll be able to unthread it the rest of the way and fish it out with a magnet

The body shell on our plugs is very shallow and the "nut" part sits right up against the head.

From what you told us, I think you will ultimately have to pull the rear cylinder head off the block and extract the remaining part of the spark plug either by heating and easy outing it or drilling and helicoiling. Good luck and let us know how it comes along.

A mechanic recommended timesert for the job. www.timesert.com I need to call for my application.

1 shop refused to work on it. The other said about $1K to remove and replace the head 10 hours labor, not including the charge from the machine shop.

Does Ford even made plugs for these cars?

he PM'd me.

Apparently, the body shell broke off of the threads & insulator, and the threads are still down there.

I can't think of ANY WAY to get that out short of pulling the head. If you drill it out you risk getting filings in the cylinder.

A picture of the stub that came out would be good...I don't see him being able to get a picture of the remnants in the hole...but that would be better.

I made contact with a shop that can get it out without removing the head for $100 (quote)

Considering it needs the 60K service done, it would make more sense to take to a shop that actually works on the SHO engine. I'm sure having a timing belt replaced would run $300 or so, if it were done as a single repair.

Anybody have a Tow Truck or know of someone that could get me a discount from Oshkosh to Madison:oogle:

I figured by undoing the hood struts, my head wouldn't be hitting the hood while messing with it. Now, if I can find an easy out long enuff.
