So I still have the rough idle problem. Feels like a slightly cammed v-8. Everything else seems to have been resolved. I replaced my computer with a known good one and it smoothed the engine out for the most part.... except for the idle.

Items replaced so far: IAB, MAF, O2 sensors, CKP, CPS, DIS, and computer. All are used except for the crank position sensor. Its brand new.

I'm lost.... will a 3.0 cam swap into a 3.2 do this?

I also failed emissions today. Was pretty sure I would, but there was no line so I went anyway.

Failed the CO part. Cruise emissions was 1.5, idle emissions was 1.35. How do I get these two things down?

I'm not the right guy to help here, just saw no one had posted up and wanted to encourage you while you're waiting...
My thoughts are this though, you just changed out the cams (3.0 vs 3.2) and it now sounds "cammed up" right? Is it possible that you didn't get it lined up right? THAT would explain it fairly easily!
I'm still a "noob" as far as SHO's go, but I've gathered that the ATX vs. MTX cam timing marks were different.
SOOO would like a second opinion for this guy!.....

Did you do a vacuum leak check? Intake fully seated? Get some brake clean or carb/throttle cleaner and spray the intake by the gaskets, around vacuum lines. If you get a idle change, you found a problem.

ya, not on backwards LOL. I pulled the top and front to double check my timing.... cams and crank are timed properly, belt is lined up properly. it's right on the money. I'm leaning towards a maf reading wrong or possibly the coolant temp sensor reading wrong. Don't know if they will throw codes if they are still reading but doing it incorrectly.

Did the vacuum check with starting fluid.... NADA. Can't find any vacuum leaks.

Did you time the cams properly to themselves? In other words, under the valve cover, when you put the cams in, did you use an alignment tool or just eyeball it. My cams were off, and I had the same problems you are having.

I marked the chains where the timing marg on the 3.2 cams lined up, and lined the timing marks for the 3.0 cams to those marks. The cams went back on exactly as they came off. All of the timing marks (cams-front and back, crank, timing belt) line up exactly where they should be.

The engine gave up a code today.... 332. Insufficient egr flow. Need to do a little research on that one.

I am not sure but I think I got that code (332) years ago and I removed the throttle body and cleaned two small holes in the air intake runner at about the 12 oclock position. I used a pipe cleaning wick. Someone correct me if I got this is wrong.
