I am replacing the Strut Tension Rod Bushings today Ok on my right rear passenger side. I have been able to get the tension rod to go back into place ok and installed the Bushings at the Bottom of the Rear spindle ok But the Problem I am having is reconnecting the Tension Rod at the Body of the car. I have the tension Rod in place and the new bushing going through the mount but the problem comes on the other side of the mount ok when I have to put the other Bushing on the other side of the mount with the flat washer when doing so there isnt even an ounce of thread from the tension Rod showing at all to put the nut back on??? How do you get this to work? I am not sure i explained this well enough but I could really use the help thank you

The bushings need to be compressed a bit. I forget how I did mine (I did the knuckle bushings though). I think I left one of the bushings off then tightened the nut down to compress the inside bushings. Then I removed the nut and put the outside bushing on.

At least you got that far, LOL.

I just spent last 4 hours at hobby shop on Air Base changing out rear struts, springs and HD endlinks. I had intended on replacing all strut rod bushings with MOOG TPR but nuts were really rusted on frame end and since I was forced to work without a lift(some kid using it for last 2 days) I could not get any leverage. Guess I will wait till later this week when I have lift to go back into surgery and repalce the bushings. BTW are you using TPR or rubber as I need to know to prepare. Also did you tighten spindle bushings first or not.

Cheers, Russel

I used the Moog bushings (TPR I believe) in the knuckle bushings. They didn't list a bushing for the body mount so I went with new Ford bushings. Unfortunately I ran out of time and only got the knuckle bushings done.

You can try chucking the wheel and driving the car back just an inch or so.
