I dont even know how you got that far, I want to paint mine blue, so how do you get that far?? I would imagine that it twists off somewhere, then pops out, but its hard to tell where the wires goes in those pics...

Well I have swapped mirrors on my sho with ones from a taurus gl so I think I can help you here.

REMOVAL:
First of all you need to remove the triangle panel just inside the door on the inside. Then remove the 2 screws holding the door panel in. One should be inside the door GRASP handle, not the door release handle. You DON"T have to unscrew that one. The other critical screw is in the door map holder area. After removing those screws, you should be able to pull the door panel. Begin at the bottom and slowly work your way around. Keep track of the door panel plastic fasteners. Some will come off in the panel itself, and some will remain in the door. Remove the ones from the door and place back in the door panel. Once you have the door panel removed off of the fasteners, lift it over the door lock pin. You will see the wiring harness for the door light still attached. Good advice is to unplug that harness from the bulb as to not break that plastic that holds the bulb in place there. It can be broken easily.
Next you will need to remove the speaker from the door. There are 3 phillips screws that hold the speaker in place. Once you unscrew them you can let the speaker just hang, or you can get someone to hold on to it. Behind it is what you are looking for. The wiring harness for the mirror runs along the the outer door and you will see a plastic holder that should be holding the wire in place. There should be a plug about 2/3 of the way down the door (white) unplug it and feed the wire back out the opening in the door. There you should have it.

INSTALLATION:
After you paint the mirror or whatever you plan to do with it, first check to make sure that you have all the wiring fed through the opening in the door and check the rubber grommet to see that it is where it should be. Then screw down the 3 nuts holding the mirror to the door. Then rerun your wiring down into the inner door area. *TIP* Make sure the wiring is where it should be and put it back through the special white holder that should be on the inside of the door. If that holder has come unfastened, take some reversible 3m tape to refasten it. Plug your mirror wiring harness back in. BEFORE you reinstall the speaker and the door panel, check to make sure that your window will roll up and down freely. Also check to make sure that the power mirror functions are all working correctly. (I didn't and had to remove the door panel all over again) Then reinstall the speaker, and pick up your door panel, plug in the bulb for the door back in, and reinstall the door panel. Make sure you put your door lock pin back through the hole before you pop the panels back in. Use some good pressure with the palm of your hand to "pop" the panel back on. There should be enough usable fasteners to make your door panel snug. After that you should be finished. Pick up your tools and enjoy. Total time should be around an hour. Good luck..

Jeremy,
Thanks for the detailed explanation...I'm sure if nothing else it will help SHO SPD out.

I was about to take out the speaker but was just hoping that I didn't need to. I will do that tonight.

How much did you pay for your SLO mirrors?

I swapped them with a buddy of mine that is doing a sho conversion. You might be able to find some at a junkyard or something. If you purchased from a parts site, they will come unpainted anyways.
