I was curious if this is considered a wear item. Mine has the paint off where the ridges of the bearing slide, but the metal looks fine. I cannot get the tabs on it to move anyhow if I was going to remove it.

Should I just leave the thing as-is or try to replace it with the new one? On Joy's younger mileage car, we left it and the new clutch is fine.

If it looks good, no grooves or ridges, I wouldnt hesitate to reuse it.

It does NOT use **** though. Dry fitment between the TOB and quill sleeve.

Sorry to revive this thread, but what exactly should you do to remove an old Quill sleeve? Should heat be used?

I removed mine with a screw driver. I know some say to reuse it, but since you've got the tranny out, might as well replace it if you have it.

I found that tapping in an awl with a hammer works well. The sleeve should split and come right off.
