then i have a few questions:
anyone know what this is?
IM000067

anyone know what this connector does?
IM000068

is there fuses or anything like that that could affect my starting in here?
IM000075

could the starter solenoid affect spark at all?

and finally...
what is this connector used for and why can't i find its other end?
IM000074
(it comes off of the fuel rail harness near the 5 connectors - it's a rectangular connecotr with 3 wires coming out of it)
it was on the fuel rail harness off a '91 in the junkyard, but it wasn't on the one from my car...?

and anyone that helps... :hail:

The plug you cannot find is for what looks like the dpfe sensor, for the egr valve. The sensor on the firewall is the baro sensor, it will not effect spark. You have the ground wire on the intake to the firewall?

i have the ground connected
my question becomes : the car didn't have an EGR at the junkyard and neither did my car, so why would there be a connector for it if it wasn't there?

No, the ABS controller doesnt have any fuses in it :laugh_ti:

Shotime: no, ive helped him work on it, and we have double and triple checked every trick in the book, we even got a breakout box, but didnt have enough equipment to diagnose it far enough

All of the harnesses have the plugs.

Yes! in pic 7 ,-the one I quoted I hope-Is a single connector under all that tape & if not connected or is bad car will not start cause it is power for the fuel pump! I thought it was a fuse holder but just checked. Does your fuel pump prime?

I think I taped that for him. it is connected. Trust, I had the same thing happen but a freeway speed. I thought I blew the motor.

it's just begun... (nightmare, that is)
APPARANTLY my harnesses aren't the same as Ford says
he's checked the Ford diagrams and they don't line up - wire colors aren't right, grounds are not grounds, and signals are not going through the right wires (again, apparently)

i know for sure it was a '91 harness both for the main harness and the fuel rail harness, and they were the same side-to-side other than that clip pictured above

he also said the starter doesn't look right (but i know it isn't supposed to - it's a Gen II starter with random wire colors to it to get it to work)

so now i'm lost even more and i don't know what to do or where to go
i'm hoping he's looking at the wrong year or that Ford's wrong, because I don't have the resources to fix it if i need harnesses and such

if anyone has harnesses that have never gotten wet and do not have the connector(s) for the EGR system, i would really like to purchase them
i've only got $220 left in order to fix it before i need to decide whether to not go to the convention or not, so please, if anyone can help, i could use it

P.S.
apparently, there isn't the correct voltage coming from the crank sensor, although it is brand-new with only like 20-30 cranks on it...

We are going to look up in the attic of the garage right now. We think we might have one from a salvaged '90. Would that work?

I'll post shortly after we find out what is up there.

turns out it was the crank sensor not being shimmed... i never heard of it needing to be, nor did i see it in the ford manual or the SHOPP how-to

it also had bad ground on almost every circuit and the grounds are being cleaned or replaced

he's also swapping out an A/C compressor because the clutch went on it

in addition, every connector is being cleaned and every splice is being soldered and heat-shrinked

unfortunately, it's going to be expensive, but i shouldn't have problems anymore

it's running on its own power and it is NOT misfiring... yet ;)
