I decided after 12 years I should maybe do a little engine cleaning on my SHO before I leave for Carlisle. I always noticed when changing plugs that the boots fit pretty poorly. Well you may have guessed but I forgot to cover them and water got in there. I started the car and got a VERY rough idle and then a check engine light before it died. Almost no throttle response either. I let it sit and tried it again....>Same thing. Then I realized the problem and pulled the front 3 plugs. Sure enough the far left one had water on the electrode. I noticed that all 3 of them had white tips now as well. I dried it out the best I could and reset the computer. Car fired right up and I drove it for a mile before it started hesitating and missing again. I pulled the plugs again and they were dry but to be safe I got the heat gun out and dried the holes. I started it and drove it but it still seems to hesitate a bit and almost stalled on me once.....Should I replace the plugs? Can I just replace the front three? Anything else I should look for?

I agree with the above, you gotta clean out the rear plug wells too. I doubt it is a problem with one of the computer connections unless one of the rubber seals is missing from a plug.

I did not check the rear plugs basically because of how hard they are to get to. I really did not spray any water back there but I guess I have to check them....If I simply let it sit overnight will it dry out?

There's a possibility that you cracked the insulator on the plug(s). They can have hair line cracks that aren't very visable to the ***** eye. I'd suggest replacing the spark plugs.

Removing the hood struts allows the hood to open up a bit more making it alot easier to get to the rear plugs, youll need someone to hold the hood open or remove it altogether as you work on the rear plugs.

I didn't have to take off the hood when I replaced my valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires although it is a good idea but if you don't have a buddy to help out I think the trouble isn't worth it.

With a cold engine, remove the black filtery thing attached to the rear runner. 12 mm Socket to remove the clip holding it on. Access to the plugs is easy from there

 gotta love the way we describe junk

It may just be easier to remove your Intake manifold if you need to replace the rear plugs, FYI- I found it is alot easier to get the intake off if you take the throtle body off then remove the rest of the intake, it cuts down on the time by making it alot easier to get the lines that are under the throtle body off.

Another water hose engine cleaning problem. sorry for your loss.

Well mistakes are made.....Now it gets better. Car made it out to Carlisle with no problems. Went out for dinner Sat night and the car just died completely while at 55 mph or so. I pulled over and tried to start it. Nothing. I unpluged both connections to the DIS module, reconnected, and it started right up and made it all the way home (130+ miles) with no problems. WTF is wrong with my car. I just picked up plugs and wires and I guess I need a DIS module as well. Please save this thread as a FAQ as to why NOT to hose down an SHO engine
