Ok, I wanted to do a little cleaning and it needed it. I took off the intake manifold, and the erg valve and cleaned both with gumout. I put everything back together and now it wont idle unless you press on the gas.

BUT, when I had the screws that hold the intake manifold inplace only hand tightened, it made a loud screech noise witch means there was a vacuum leak. But it ran in idle with the vacuum leak. I really do not understand this.
You would think that with no vacuum leak it would woundn't idle. It seams as if it isn't getting enough air to the engine.

Thanks.

Is the Idle air bypass(IAB) plugged in? It is looks like cylinder just to the left of the throttle body (if you're facing towards the back of the car)

if its getting too much air into the engine it wont idle unless you have your fooot on the gas.

If there is a huge leak somewhere, possibly a vacuum line got crushed under the intake while putting it back on (i've done this), then it is getting too much air. The air going into the engine isn't being read by the MAF so it cant account for it and give it the proper amount of fuel. By stepping on the throttle you are opening the intake to allow more air to flow through, thus being measured properly by the MAF.

So here is the question, does it rev really high on start up? If not I'd put my money on the IAC.

Make sure, you have the bolts in the crossover tube in, that will cause an idle or no start problem!

Yes, everything that I can tell is plugged in.

No vacuum line is crushed under the intake. The RPM's barley get over 1k before it goes off. I have checked every single vacuum line I could find and I could not find a leak.

Yuuuppp all bolted up..

EDIT:: so it's midnight and I can't fall asleep thinking about this. I did not take the IAC off while I was cleaning the manifold. Now that I think of it, I was prob. spraying directley into the IAC. I don't know what to expect tommarow when I pull it off and look at the inside.

From your description, I'd say the iac valve isn't working - it might have gotten messed up in the cleaning process or it might not be plugged in, but it needs to let some air in to allow the engine to idle.

I don't know if the IAC valve is working or not, but I cleaned it all out. The only way I can drive it is if i put a nut around the screw to the throttle

Bring it by if itll run enough to drive

I think i'm gold now. I adjusted the idle screw by just a hair and now it's solid. No probs.
Since there was a lot of buildup around the valve, could that have kept it from closing, and now that I cleaned it, it can finally close, and closed to much?

Update: I started the car this afternoon and it did almost the exact same thing after installing the manifold. So I went out and got some eletrical cleaner and cleaned all plugs that I took apart to clean the manifold. It started up fine but was having some hicups. So I decided to spray some around the bottom of the manifold and found that one of the screws wasn't tightened all the way. Works now. It was running fine all of last night though.
