There is a clip type thing on the top of the subframe, but I cant figure out how to keep that from spining when I turn the bolt.. I got the rear bolts undone from inside the car under the carpet, but the front is different from the rear. How can I get those front bolts off?

I had that problem when I put new nuts and bolts in. I could get my fingers on the nut and there is a raised bit of metal for the nut tab to grab on to. Hope this helps. That was a 1 week nightmare for me last year.

I have pulled 3 subframes recently from SHO's, on all I just used the 18 or 19mm sockets on the bolt, and the nut stayed in the frame, it should have some sort of ****** on it to hit, and resist for putting in, and taking out the bolt, I did not even have to touch the nut, in either of the 12 bolts. Good luck

Now that I thinking about it. It would be easier to get the recall kits and just cut ther head off the bolt. Then cut the bolt again after the bushing is off. You will be able to fish the old nut and bolt out of the small opening on the subframe. Then put in the new ones.

Thats part of the problem, I cant see, or feel a nut on the front bolts, and There i no way a socket can fit in there with a ratchet, unless theres a way other than the 1" space on the outside of the frame.

It`s not really a nut. It`s a cheap plate that`s made to set in the subframe and hit against the walls so it dowsn`t spin. When they rot out,the ends get weak and will spin when you try to take to bolt out, mine did the same thing. You can feel the nut from one of the access slots on the subframe. From there, you can jam a big screwdriver and wedge the nut into place to it won`t spin. It`s a little tricky, but it works.

Those crappy nuts are used to install trailer hitchs.

The are a bastard to get out, but a good way to reach a tough area when attaching items.

Fords method for this situation is to cut the bolt heads off.

That isn't an option. That will allow you drop the subframe, but you are still left with a nut that has to be welded to the frame. Their solution allows you to get it off, but how about getting a new one on?

I got a question, what is the recall kit for?? I was told that since I have a 95 I don't have to worry about it. I am getting some aluminum SFBs and I was told they came with the recall kit.
