Have a 95 atx.On the way to a party the other night came to about a 10 MPH roll and went to accelerate and nothing. Was making a clinging noise in left front when reeving it up.I find it weird i had no indication of it going bad.I just had it rebuilt 16,000 miles ago.I lifted it tonight and check for broken axels and found nothing.Wheels both spin when spinning one as normal. When being towed speedometer worked.Shifter lines seem to be attached.Fluid isnt leaking, doesnt smell burnt either. Is there something that could cause all of this other than a 2800.00 fix of it again? I didnt feel anything when it went out...no slipping, no clunk...natha! God i love this 3.2 tranny`s.Anybody in Minnesota that can direct me to someone who knows how to rebuild one good for more that 16,000? I appreciate all the input.

sounds like an electrical problem to me. I'd check the connector at the top of the trans right under the cruise control unit. Could be loose pulled out and causing the shift solinoids to not work.

It definitally sound's like something inside the trans let loose. There are several different things that could go wrong when you have no engaugement.

First thing to check is fluid level and condition.
-If the level is to High chances are that the pump, pump shaft,or torque converter may have failed.Checking line pressure would confirm that one of these parts has failed causing no trans pressure.
-If the level is to Low check if there is a leak and add fluid.
After that I usually drop the trans pan to see if it has any metal chunks in it like possible Diff,Torque converter,or planet assy has blown apart.
Other things i have seen break would be:
-The Sun Gear is broken off the Intermrdiate drum at the weld.
-The Intermediate Band is broken.
-The Forward clutch piston is cracked or the seal.
It doesn't look good to be a Quick fix but who knows?
Just to give you some ideas to look at.

to answer those questions........

Tranny fluid is at normal level.Doesnt seem to smell burnt at all.Doesnt seem to be any leaks.I didnt feel a clunk or not even a burb or something breaking loose. Was running smooth as my girlfriends  So what i have figured out is i have park.I dont have any other gears.Speedometer worked while it was being towed(dont know if that helps?).Im curiuos to hear more about possibly being a broken chain. And what consisits of that being replaced?Thats again for all the input and so quickly.Keep throwing those ideas at me well figure this out.

sonnax sells an extra wide large c-clip that holds the planetaries together, the factory clip has clearance and sometimes pops out, wich cause no movement, its just a possibility....

SONNAX® 96730-RR AXOD, AXODE Rear Ring Gear Retaining Ring. This snap ring is thicker than OEM filling the entire groove to prevent the ring from popping out
