Ok after taking my 91 in today to fix the horrible exhaust leak coming from where the y-pipe bolts to the manifold & also @ the donut gasket between the resonator & y-pipe I developed the leak not 5 hours after gettting it back & it's worse than before. I had some serious power compared to now & I'm missing it after just the short time it was here. Can anybody suggest remedies to better seal the shoshop y-pipe @ the manifold? I think the shop welded the donut gasket area together so that should be fine, but the other spot is leaking like crazy! Anyways the sooner you could help the better because it's going back in tomm. & I want it taken care of for good this time. Thanks in advance.

I had all the connections welded except for the the y-pipe to cat back and of course not at the manifold. I think there needs to be some flexibility at the donut gasket area. Maybe you should double check to be sure that is indeed welded there along with where all the welds are. My clamped areas leaked very badly. Perhaps you should consider another shop taking a crack at it. Some people look and talk like they know what they're doing but don't really take enough time to think about how to solve the problem. I experienced this several times at the Ford dealer myself. If they can't do it you need to find someone who can at least give it a fresh look.

You should install a flex pipe at the y-pipe to the resonator.
