I have a jr. hi rev clutch from SHO shop with about 30k on it, and I installed a 3.2, and now, when I first put the motor in, the clutch was VERY hard to push in, then I pulled up on it, and the clutch spring popped off, so we fixed that and then the car would not go into gear, so we tightened the cable, and still could not get it to go in to gear, the the cable came off, and we put it back on, now the car goes into gear, but its like the clutch is always pushed in, i can put it into gear with the clutch out, and the clutch is easy to push in again, so we loosened the clutch cable, but can still put the car into gear without the clutch being down. and the car is definantly going into gear, but the car does not go any where, however when up on jacks the car tries were spinning fine when the car would not go into gear.. whats the problem????

Sounds like a bad clutch cable. If you disconnect the cable from both ends, does it move freely? What about the throw-out bearing actuator? Does it move freely? Either of those could cause a problem similar to this.

My response to this post last night was not recorded. This sounds like the clutch release lever is stuck in the "released" position. This could be due to a throwout bearing jammed on the quill tube or frozen release lever bushings. You need to check the position and freedom of the release lever on the top of the transaxle casing.

In the picture below, the release lever on the top of the gear case is in the relaxed position where the clutch would be engaged, or the engine would be coupled to the transmission. If the lever is not free to wiggle a little front to back or is postioned with the forked, cable end toward the firewall, the clutch is in the disengaged postion with the engine uncoupled from the transmission.

If the lever is not jammed, there has been another failure within the pressure plate. With the cable off the release lever or pedal mechanism, the clutch must be in the engaged or coupled condition.

Maybe thi piece of information will help also, before the transission was completely attatched to the motor I pressed the clutch pedal down, and it stayed down,so I pulled it back up, and it went click like 5 or more times. Then it was really tight.. If I look at the lever thing tht pushes the throwout bearing, it is in the relaxed position, so the clutch should notbe engaged, but it is. and the lver does move with the cable, and the cable does move freely... I am thinking it is inside somewhere.
