Since im running a TiAL wastegate , im in the verge of buying a TiAL BOV.

But I need to choose the spring that goes in it , and from what I understand , it needs to fit the engine's vacuum?

Am I correct?

Question number 2.

Since I got the 4PSI spring installed in my wastegate , Do I still have to install my manual boost controller? Or I just plug it directly in the turbo outlet?

That boost controllr will have to be wide open to achieve 4psi , so whats the point right?

So how much boost are you running? Do you know what your engine will handle safely? Do you know what the BOV does and what it's for?

Buy a BOV with an adjustable spring. Since you're only venting letting off the throttle after boost, it won't need the engine vacuum to continuously hold it open like a supercharger. Both vacuum on the diaphragm and boost pressure on the piston will open the valve.

Actual boost will depend on a few things. Spring pressure and exhaust back-pressure will have the greatest effect. My 14.5 PSI TiAL spring on my STi gives me 16.2 PSI at the engine, same with my buddies 2.5L WRX. Running a 10 PSI spring netted about 11.5 IIRC. Both boost pressure and exhaust pressure willl be forcing the wastegate open.

A MBC will only allow you to run more boost than spring pressure, so if you're wanting to know what that spring(s) is really good for, you'll be running with an MBC wide open anyway. I would just connect a line from the turbo straight to the WG right now.

I guess the real question was , what TIAL BOV spring I need , cause it seams I need it to match the engine's vacuum reading according to this:

TiAL Blow Off Valve Springs.
Available in 3 psi, 6 psi, 8 psi, 10 psi, and 11 psi.

Select the following spring pressures based on engine vacuum reading.

"Version 1" Tial BOV:
-22 to -23 in/Hg use Pink - 11 Psi spring
-18 to -21 in/Hg use Un-painted -10 Psi spring
-14 to -17 in/Hg use White -8 Psi spring
-10 to -13 in/Hg use Black -6 Psi spring
0 to -7 in/HG (or supercharger) use 3 PSI Spring (Pink)

"Version 2" Tial Q BOV:
-22 to -23 in/Hg use -12 Psi spring (not available)
-20 to -21 in/Hg use Pink -11 Psi spring
-16 to -19 in/Hg use Un-painted -10 Psi spring
-12 to -15 in/Hg use White -8 Psi spring
-8to -11 in/Hg use Black -6 Psi spring

0 to -7 in/HG (or supercharger) use 3 PSI Spring (Pink) 10%

My selections are in bold, however, checking the vacuum on your motor should be fairly easy (mid-high RPM off throttle is closer to what you'll reference). The TiAL wastegates send all springs with their gates so you can choose and test, do they not do the same with their BOV's. If you weren't set on TiAL, it's much easier to find one with an adjustable spring.

Something that is important here, are you draw-through or blow through MAF? If your draw through you will need the highest spring pressure to ensure that it doesnt open at idle. That is if your going against convention and venting instead of recirculating when using a drawthrough.

I don't have a vast knowledge on BOV's and different wastegates. My turbo ATX used a tial 50mm BOV with a very light spring but it was so long ago I don't remember which one. I want to say it was white. Never had any issues with it. I also used a tial 38mm wastegate and didn't have any issues with that either other than breaking bolts off in the flanges. I recommend you use anti seize on bolts at the exhaust in and out flanges to avoid this. (mine saw a lot of water where it was placed) I had a 10psi spring and after 4 years of service it was 6-8psi. it was 10 for the first season i had it in there though.

The new tial wastegate and BOV I got for my camaro are V band. I was not aware their whole lineup changed. I know the 44mm wastegate I got has coolant ports for "extreme duty" I thought that was a bit unusual.

My MV-S (38mm) has the coolant ports too. Under extreme heat (road course), this will keep it from failure and extend it's life greatly.

Are you talking about the MV-S?

Correct , I got the MS-V.

The Q is the Tial BOV (so I made a boo boo in my previous post)

And yes the MS-V 38mm got the coolant ports , and on this model , they claim its smaller then the previous 38mm.
