as the title says my car is dead. the only time ti started is if i had soemone push me and i popped the clutch. my dad doens't think it is my starter relay since he used a volt testing thing. i turn my key and i hear nothing but i have all power in my car. if my starter went wouldn't it just click? also my dad thinks it could be my ignition switch since i have occasionally had a hard time putting the key in and have to turn my black plastic piece so they key hole will line up.

the solenoid is 6 bucks at autozone. I had the same problem, just a tiny click. My lower nut was loose. This happened in the staging lanes, at the track. I was ******!

Sounds like you have a bad ground somewhere. My battery terminals were really clogged and the car wouldn't start, 3 days and a good laugh at the ford dealer later I had my new terminals and was driving again. later

You have either A. Bad battery cables (as said above, remove the cables & clean both the cables and the battery terminals with a wire brush) or B. Bad starter. I've seen this happen MANY times at the dealership I work for. It's also happened to me on my 95 MTX...worked fine one minute, next minute nothing.

Ensure all connections are tight, then check battery first. Is it holding 12v without discharging while not in use? If not, get a new battery. If so, try a jump start. If jump start works, battery needs maintenance/replaced or alternator is not charging battery. If jump start doesn't work, measure voltage at starter/solenoid (single unit on 93mtx) while still connected to remote battery. If 12v, then starter/solenoid needs fixed/replaced. If not 12v, return to battery or alternator.

Yeah the starters aren't cheap...I believe mine was $120; and that's wholesale through my work! Installation wasn't too bad though...long extensions are a must but $260 sounds about right for a shop.

make sure you check the s terminal on the soleniod it misleads many to think the starter is bad. And they replace it and it works fine for awhile then one day it all starts again it is the little clip on wire on the starter it is a nortorious problem with Fords.
