so I was going to replace the crabk seal tonight and started pulling the car apart. I got the crank bolt loose, and started pulling balancer off. I started bolt the puller to the crank pulley and wouldn't you know it one of the bolts broke when it was about half way in. The bolt broke off flush with the face of the crank pulley. Any one have any ideas as to how to get it out. Will it hurt to drive the car a week with the piece of bolt still in the pulley?

That little piece of bolt could make a dramatic difference. You're probably gonna have to drill it out, which can be hard with it still in the car... If you could, grind an X into it, and get a mean screwdriver after it.

ok, if the pulley is out of the car, and hopefully it is, its easy...if you don't want to drill out the whole thing, just go to a hardware store, and ask for an e-z out, its this thing that kind of looks like a reverse thread drill bit, except at the end, it kind of grabs onto the bolt that is broken...so take a small drill bit, drill a hole into the bolt, not too big so that the ezout will fit into it easily, but big enough to get part of it in, and then just use the ezout like a screwdriver or anything else, lefty loosey...but i think they come with instructions if you buy them in a set or whatever...if not, and you've got any questions, just ask...its a pretty straightforward setup tho...

I did the same thing while working on a buddies sho. We ended up getting a different pulley puller and that did the trick. We used a large snap on one that went around the back of the pulley.Good Luck

OK an update for all of you who have had ideas, First I would like to say thanks. I did finally get the pulley off. I used the good bolt hole for one side of the puller and used a c-clamp on the side where the broken bolt was. I basically clamped to the puller to the pulley. It came off alot easier than I thought. I have since ordered a used pulley from one of the forum members and it should be here on Thursday. This car is my daily driver but thank god it's not my only vehicle.

So I just ran into the same problem but with my harmonic pulley, two of the brackets that are supposed to be used for the puller to get some grip; is broken. I just bought a 3 jaw puller set and the bolt is already off. I need help finding a way to taking this off. can you please go more in dept on how you took yours off. this is the only thing keeping my DSM from running

What brackets are you referring to? A pulley puller just uses 2 bolts to pull the crank(harmonic) pulley off.

Make sure you use the right thread when you choose the bolt to screw in the pulley. It's easy to pick the wrong one. They should go in by hand or with VERY little wrench help. If tight, chase the threads with a tap first. Glad you found a spare pulley.
