Glad to see other people have this issue also - not that I want bad things for other people but I thought I was the only one! I bought some good water-resistant high-temp double sided tape and installed it about 2 years ago and no issues since!

I was wanting to take it off completely to remove any debris obstruction before repairing. might have some dirt or old tape/glue in the way

The whole thing is held on with tape. I had the keypad go bad and had to replace the whole thing.
