Good day everyone, my name's Nick. I'm 16 and got my first car back in November of 2019 (Back when the world was semi normal...). She's a White 2011 Taurus SHO, we bought her at the dealer with 146k miles on her. I decided to name her Lunar, because of the white color. Lunar's now got 155k miles in that short time, what can I say, I like driving. She doesn't have the PP, which I sometimes want but, got more power than I need right now. The fun fact about the car is that it was originally purchased at the delar that we bought it from, and only serviced there. The CarFax is around 10 pages of service details! I've been a lurker for around 6 months, read all the forums that people suggest and have a plan on what I want to do with her. Brakes, suspension, Tune from GearHead, and other stuff in the future. I hope to learn more details about these cars because, lets face it, the learning is never done. I'll upload some pictures soon.

Welcome. In your records is there documentation about a PTU fluid swap/exchange? Was the coolant replaced? If they havent been, I would seriously get working on those ASAP.

CarFax says something about a transfer case being removed for repairs, I’m guessing that’s the PTU. That was around 50k miles ago in 2015... can’t find anything about the coolant, I’ll get that all done this weekend.

Yes it would seem that the PTU was replaced. You need to remove the old fluid and replace it. There is an article on how to do that in the thread I posted.

So, a big upgrade project that led to other things needing to be done I'm guessing?
More of well while I'm in there might as well fix/upgrade that and if I do that I should paint that, etc etc..lol

What Happened? as in where did everyone go...well Im not sure tbh...I was out of the SHO game for 13yrs so when I came back 3 yrs ago the SHO scene in Houston are was completely dead...
What Happened? as in why mine is not running atm...Complete tear down, paint, lots of mods, rebuilding now and probably have realistically another year till she is ready to drive again.

That is EXACTLY what and how it happened....and throw in some OCD on top of all of that mess, yessir it turned into the perfect storm pretty quick! BUT she is on her way back just slow going because of the whole OCD thing.
When I am not working on her I am always trying to find parts sources for unobtanium parts. I have a few things in the firs at the moment that could be game changers for the Gen 1 & 2 communities. Not ready to announce anything yet because still in preliminary stages but will know definitively in next couple months whether they are a final go or not.
