It's been about 1 1/2 years since I last logged in the Forum, principally because my 92 MTX has been unused and unusable for that period. Sorting out a thorny electronic issue was just taking too much time away from needed money-making endeavors, so I just covered and parked it !

I now have some time to work out the puzzle but need some help.

I remember reading somewhere that when the ECM had been disconnected from 12V for a period of time, that when reconnected, that it needed to "relearn" the system, and so would need to start up in some kind of lower level "Start-Up" mode. Is this true ? Is it automatic, or do I have to somehow input an order to do so ?

When I last worked on it, I was testing sensors for required input/output, and think I found a lack of 12V to the ICRM.

All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dinosauro

It will have forgotten all the fuel tuning and idle settings, but that doesn't require much to get it going again. I think to relearn the idle (been a long time since I did it, might be wrong) is just to turn on AC, radio, rear defrost, etc to get the max load on the motor while idling, then start the car and keep your foot off the gas. It'll start messing with the idle after a few seconds and should stabilize shortly.

Fuel tuning just comes back from driving it.
