Headlight restoration

I have started to notice that the yellowish protective coatings for my GenIII headlights are coming off. How do I remedy this? Can I use PlastX to help control the deterioration? Thanks a million!

I use PlastX on mine. Works great. Not sure if it actually works as a preventative or not. But every time I start to see some "fog" or yellowish tint, as you are talking about, I apply a good coat over the lights.

No, no, no my headlights are yellowish. Not from exposure or oxidation but stock. Does anybody know what Im talking about? My headlights and mirrors all have this coating. Thanks

Once they start to cloud over then you can polish them. But then it has to be done a couple times a year.

If someone put a yellow tint on them then that's another story.

I think the lack of responses indicates that nobody knows what the **** you're talking about. Perhaps some pics would help us understand?

Works best when you use a high speed buffer with the PlastX.

Oh yeah. I kind of wish I would have taken pictures of my buddies car that I did.

135k mi. It is a Texas car that he drove between Houston and Denver a bunch of times, through sandstorms nonetheless. All I used on his was the PlastX and the buffer. They looked excellent, the chips were still there, but that is understandable.

PlastX works, I used 3M "Finish Restore" and about 15 seconds with the orbital. Or, about 1 minute with the rag. Coat of wax afterwards, and all is well.

I did a second application to remove the rest of the scratches, worked great. They sell it at Wally World, it's like $5.00 per bottle.

Follow up with some wax afterwards- I use either Megs NXT Techwax or E1 Nanowax. Nothing carnauba, just polymer wax for those. I did my turn signals, taillights and reflector bar also.
