Okay, I did a search on this and it seems to be a fairly common problems amoung Gen I/II SHOs. I turn on my headlights and my parking lights only come on, and in order to see, I must pull back the high beam lever thingy.

I dont know nothing about nothing when it comes to electronics. Should I seek professional help with this or is it pretty straight forward. Where can I get some of the parts I may have to replace? Also, I read in one of the posts that in order to replace the MFS(which I think is the wiper, high beam turn signal switch) the ignition must be pulled and that kind of scares me. Any help or scematics(SP) would be helpful. Thanks in advance for the help!

This is a common problem?!? Huh. Weird.

Anyway, it sounds like you a have a problem with the multiswitch in the column.

Check the bulbs. I think they are double filament, but I have yet to do Headlamps on my SHO. Check voltage and amperage at the headlights. Check the output wires at the multiswitch. You'll need a wiring diagram to figure out the porper wires and some tools to pull off the column cowl around the steering wheel.

Double filament bulbs? Does that mean 1 blows they both do? Like I said, I really dont know much about electricity in general...my uncle owns a shop out where I live and he has got a good electronics guy, but I would like to try to at least take a stab at this before I go to him.

If someone could find a diagram or point me in the right direction on where to find one, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

**UPDATE**

I think there is a short or something in the switch it self, I was able to get my headlights to come on today by flickering the high beams on/off a few times. I prolly should still replace the switch though.

If the lights work sometimes, shooting from the hip, I'd say it's the multiswitch in the column.

Do the lights flicker when you jiggle or turn the headlight switch on the dash?

Try dousing the switch in some WD-40 to see if that improves things. Spray some in the top where the hazard switch is, then spray some in the side where the stalk goes into the body of the switch, then work the heck out of the switches for a few minutes and see if it works any better.
