Head work tools

I picked up a spare set of heads for a rebuild I was planing on doing myself. I see that special tools are needed for the removial and replacment of the valves ( & springs ). I hear that the only pace to get them is through ford and they can be quite expensive. Does anyone know where I might be able to pick up a set with out killing my wallet? Or maybe some way I can fabricate my own? I'm not sure what they even look like because I have never seen them.
