So the bloody head gasket went on my 90'. Just got the thing recentley and have'nt taken it in for service yet. How many hours labour/cost approx is a head gasket job. Is it best to take these things to dealers? I know that the engines are'nt the easiest things to work on. Thanks

Front head gasket, not TOO bad. Rear is a total bitch. There's a lot of prep work to GET TO the gasket, but it's not something that MUST be taken to a dealer. Be advised that the head gaskets are out of this world. Upper Gasket Set pricing, even through SHO Nut Performance is getting outrageous ($300+ US for a gasket set, incl. HG's).

Good luck!

If all you want to replace are the head gaskets, autozone sells them for the 3.0 only at $95.00 ea.
I purchased the set from shonut for the 3.2 swap and almost all the the gaskets I needed for the top engine (a better deal even at $300.00).

All my old gaskets and seals were hard, dried or cracked. If you are going to replace the head gaskets your self, might as well do all the gaskets for the parts you have to remove...(valve covers, o rings, injectors, water pump, manifold, front crank, etc.)

If you are going 90 percent of the distance, take the extra step it takes to complete it 100 percent.

It is not difficult to do. You will have to remove many parts. Photograph, before and after. Store all bolts and brackets that go together in a platic bag or box an lable them. Lable all electrical connections and hoses you separate, and clean everything well before you put it back.

If you organize yourself, you can do it. You can do a better job than the dealer or a regular mechanic who is only interested in doing minimal effort. This is your car, if you plan to keep it for a while, it will serve you as well as you service it.

Good luck.
