I'm in, talked to Kirk about staying at my place the night before because it's fairly close to New London and the ferry. Looks like round trip on the ferry with a car and two passengers is about $130. Ouch. Does it really save that much time? I've only been to LI once, and it was for business so I wasn't concerned about the cost.

Honestly, It takes just as much if not more time to take the ferry (Unless you are going somewhere far east on the Island). There may be less DRIVING time, but once you consider waiting for the ferry, loading, the trip, unloading, it's a 2 1/2 hour ordeal.
