Shoaz
Studly dood
FWIW, a tiny bit more explanation for those who may still not be following this completely.
Most (if not all) MTX SHOs came from the factory with a narrow inside diameter TOB that rode directly on the aluminum case quill shaft. The way this was done was notorious for problems that led to things like the photo posted of the broken fingers in the pressure plate. The aluminum would wear and cause binding points, etc., and things would just generally go awry and cause premature clutch failure.
Since many of these failed under warranty (my 95 lasted about 36k after I drove it off the lot, which was actually a LOT further than many of them ever got). During warranty replacement the knowledgeable (i.e., competent) technicians would use the updated parts that included the much harder quill sleeve and a larger inside diameter TOB to accomodate the sleeve. The sleeve won't gall like the aluminum shaft so the TOB is much less likely to get hung up or tilted and chew up the PP fingers.
The updated TOBs and quill sleeves were available long before production ended on MTX SHOs, and I've always wondered why they didn't just put the damn things on at the factory. When I did a recent clutch change I pulled the quill sleeve off that had been put on during the warranty repair, and the damage that the original TOB had done to the aluminum quill shaft was evident. Grrr.
So absolutely do not under any circumstances put a TOB meant for a quill sleeve on a tranny without a quill sleeve, and if at all possible always use a quill sleeve and updated TOB with larger inside diameter. If you can afford it, going one more step and getting Josh's ceramic TOB or one of his hybrid systems is even better.
