What the clunking sound that comes from the SHO is?

Today I put Strut Tower Control Bars (STCB's) onto a stock 92 that had no suspension noises whatsoever. immediately afterwards I start having the infamous clunking sound that i have heard in other SHO's and described here.

I have searched this forum and got a wide array of answers, but nothing conclusive.

But since my car was fine before the installation of the STCB's and all I did was loosen the bolts, and added the mounts. can that somehow pinpoint the problem, or is the tower bars putting stress in another area that would cause the clunk? But what about those without STCB's

Has anyone found the source of these clunks?

I just had a friend put a new clutch in my '95 MTX, and sure enough, i get the car back on the road and every time a take a corner I get a horrible clunking noise as the load shifts from one side to another. What gives?

I have found 4 parts that have caused clunks for me in the past. I've had bad front swaybar bushings, front swaybar links, a strut rod that came loose from the subframe, and bad struts.

A proper experiment would be to remove the "Strut Tower Control Bars" and see if the clunk goes away, then re-install, and see if the clunk comes back.

If the clunk is still there after removing the bars - the car is possessed - you should re-install the bars anyway, set the car afire, and push it off a cliff.

Agreed.

I have an annoying clunk that sounds like it is coming from right behind the rear passenger seat or door.

If the body in the trunk isn't disposed of quickly enough it can dry out. Sometimes in this condition after spirited driving the head can separate and start rolling around in there. Proper disposal solves the problem. I recommend a night-time disposal with a reliable lookout.

This problem sounds un-solvable; you should just send your car to me.

A few years ago, I had a noise in my car that was unbearable. It was coming from the passenger seat area. It went away when I tossed out the defective GF Unit and got a much more well designed one.
