Can anybody have a trick to to tighten the nut on the harmonic balancer. I used the jamming the ratchet against the subframe to loosen the bolt. Is there a way similar to tighten the bolt.
Please help I'm working on the car now.

Some people like to use a c-clamp on the pulley with the clamp up against the inner fender well to keep it from moving. Personally, I prefer to use the harmonic puller and use a breaker bar in between the bolts. It makes for tight space, but I'd rather break a bolt than the pulley.

ATX? The C-clamp or a large strap wrench on the damper.

MTX? Strap wrench or have someone step on the brake pedal with the trans in 4th, or install the tire, put it on the ground and torque away.

No matter the method, you need to get the required 113-126 lb-ft of torque on the bolt.

For the record, it is just a damper to quell the vibrations of the crank. It is a balanced pulley and has no function of balancing the crank.

If it's an mtx-Scott tipped me to this-put the spare donut wheel on, put the trans in reverse or 5th? gear, lower the car to get weight on the donut. Torque to spec. and don't forget the red locktite to keep the bolt from backing out. Hopefully he'll chime in since I couldn't find the thread he posted back then.

Hey he beat me to the post!

sunny San Juan Bautista,
I myself used blue because I don't keep the red stuff around. I figure the blue is good enough to keep the bolt from vibrating loose as long as it's torqued up to *****. I think somebody's notes actually called for the red. Scary stuff.

For torquing my MTX bolt I put the wheel on, lowered the car, put it in gear with the e-brake on. Worked like a charm.
