I have Mark Nunally's 60k video and he makes it look simple to break the balancer bolt loose, but I am having no luck. I tried a deep impact socket with a rachet rested on the frame and also a close-ended curved wrench. Both simply fell off when I tried it the first time, then the second time tried the rachet the socket broke. I guess I will go get a new one at Sears- should I get a deep or regular impact socket?
Does anyone know any other tricks to removing that bolt?

Use a good box end wrench,or a 1/2" drive Craftsman ratchet.Mine came off easily,Beth`s took and hour. Most are poretty simple, but there are the rare bastards like hers.

A regular depth, 1/2" drive, 19mm impact socket. Rest the wrench handle on a piece of plywood on the forward subframe crossmember, remove both plugs from the DIS module and bump the ignition key. The image below doesn't show the plywood, but it lets you see what has worked many times for me. I also use a piece of closed cell foam to wedge between the wrench head and the body to keep the socket on the bolt.
